Seawolves men’s soccer finishes last home game with win

(Saint John, NB) The Seawolves men's soccer team finished their last home game of the season with a win over the Holland College Hurricanes, picking up their sixth win of the season and placing them second in the conference standings.  

The win will put UNB in a strong position as the season closes out, with teams looking to secure their spot in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) playoffs. Scoring early in the 23rd minute of the first half, striker Griffin Cassidy put the Seawolves ahead 1-0. Holland kept the pressure on the Seawolves but could not find the back of the net.  

In the second half, the Seawolves continued to maintain a tight defensive play. With their eyes on a playoff spot, the Seawolves showed their grit and determination by holding the Hurricanes off and ending the weekend with back-to-back wins.  

The next action for the Seawolves comes Thursday, October 10, when they face the St. Thomas University Tommies. The last time these two teams met, the Seawolves were defeated at home. With only three games left in the regular season, the Seawolves are looking to maintain their momentum and get a win on the road.
