Men’s soccer adds Owen Wylie to 2025 roster
(Saint John, NB) Owen Wylie has officially signed with Seawolves men's soccer for the 2025 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season.
Joining the team from Maple Ridge, B.C., Wylie has played for the BC Senior Premier League (BC SPL) for four years with Langley and, recently three years with a premier academy, competing in the U21, U19, and men's Division 1 leagues. He was named MVP of the Gothia and Dana cup and won MVP in Spain training with Tovo in 2022.
"He is willing to do whatever it may take for the team. His ability to perform in key moments is driven by his work ethic and dedication to excellence," said head coach PJ Ward.
Wylie has played the game since he was eight years old, drawing much of his inspiration from Messi. "I love the way he plays and the magic he brings to the game," Wylie said.
"Soccer to me means freedom. The field is a blank canvas, and you are the artist. I have seen the beauty of the game from an early age and have been obsessed, doing my best to get better every day," Wylie added about his love for the game.
Wylie has volunteered as an assistant coach for the West Coast in 2017 and in 2021 for Langley. "I learned many things about the game from different perspectives that way and have learned how players learn effectively. I got involved in helping at first but then found it quite interesting and fun to teach other players," he said.
Wylie is enrolled in UNB Saint John's Bachelor of Health and Science program with future goals to become a physiotherapist or chiropractor.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Owen!
