(Saint John, NB) The UNB Saint John Seawolves women's soccer team evened their record at 3–3 on the season with a decisive 4–0 win over the Crandall Chargers on Sunday afternoon at Canada Games Stadium.
The Seawolves came out strong in the opening half, striking early and often. Haley Coleman opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a composed finish to put the home side ahead. Just two minutes later, Scarlette McDonald doubled the lead with a powerful header, and Sophie Hunt extended the advantage to 3–0 in the 18th minute with a well-taken free kick. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Brzezicki was sharp in the net, making key saves to preserve the clean sheet at the break.
UNBSJ continued to control play in the second half, dictating tempo and limiting Crandall's chances. The breakthrough came again in the 88th minute when substitute Jenna Brenton added the fourth goal to seal the win. Moments later, the Chargers were reduced to 10 players after a red card, leaving the Seawolves in full command to close out the match and Brzezicki to preserve the shutout.
Seawolves' defensive unit turned aside every Crandall effort, recording the team's first shutout of the year. With the result, UNBSJ improves to 3–3 on the season, while Crandall falls to 0–6.
