Ontario goalkeeper signs with Seawolves women's soccer
(Saint John, NB) Isabella Hopkins has officially signed with the Seawolves. Joining the team from Newmarket, Ontario, Hopkins is following her dreams of playing for a university team.
"Most of the life lessons I learned were because of soccer, from both positive and negative experiences. Soccer is an outlet to work hard and push myself to be better," she said.
Discovered at the FTF Fall Showdown in Toronto, Ontario, PJ Ward is excited about the addition. "Isabella is a young but promising goalkeeper, with a big presence in her box on aerial balls. She has good game reading and can quickly anticipate attacking play," said Ward.
Academically, Hopkins made honour roll every year in high school and received the principals list in Grade 10 for having one of the top averages in her grade. Not only are her academics impressive, but her soccer skills are evident through her accomplishments, including being a Woodbridge College John SIMS Tournament Finalists 2023, A.C. Douglas Tournament Finalists 2023, Georgetown SC Eustace Collins Tournament Finalists 2023.
Playing soccer is a major part of Hopkins life but when she's not on the field you can find her staying active in other ways. " I participate in sports at school including flag football, cross country, and swimming," she said.
She also volunteers in her free time as a coach for the all-abilities soccer programs, an assistant swimming instructor, and as an altar-server at her church. "All of these contributions to my community have shown me the value of helping others and allowed me to be in a leadership role," she said.
Hopkins is taking a Bachelor of Health in Biomedical Sciences and Health, she aspires to work in the medical field or health research.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Isabella!
