Men’s volleyball rebounds to split opening weekend against Rams
(Saint John, NB) The UNB Saint John Seawolves bounce back and win in three straight sets after falling to the Rams in back-to-back weekend action (25-20, 25-22, 25-21).
The Seawolves showed early on that they had regrouped, refocused and were ready to take on the Rams. A key player to UNB's success was 6-foot left-side player William Siefker, with an impressive 15 kills and 9 digs.
Offensively for the Rams, Alastair Stockdale led the way with 8 kills, but it was not enough to overcome the Seawolves' strong performance.
When asked what the difference was between today's game and yesterday's performance, Head Coach Dino Karatzios said," Yesterday we kind of knew what we did wrong. When we rewatched the game, we noticed that our serving wasn't there, our blocking wasn't there, and our defence wasn't there."
"Today, it was a different mindset. We said,' Let's get defence first,' and once we had that in our mindset, things were rolling a little bit better. So, offence took care of itself," he further explained.
UP NEXT: The Seawolves are on the road to take on the Université Sainte-Anne on Saturday, November 2, and Sunday November 3. UNB Saint John will be back home to face the St. Thomas University Tommie's on Sunday, November 10.
